The Columbia chapter of BridgeUSA.
BridgeUSA is a multi-partisan student movement that champions viewpoint diversity, responsible discourse, and a solution-oriented political culture.
At BridgeColumbia, we seek to reduce political polarization within the wider Columbia community, emphasizing the need to respectfully engage with and listen to ideas from across the political spectrum. We tackle the most pressing political challenges of our time — from upcoming elections to global events — through constructive disagreement and honest engagement.

The Bridge Mindset
A shared mindset, not shared answers.
The goal of BridgeUSA is not to change minds or create centrists, but to encourage students to engage differing beliefs, experiences, and perspectives. What unites us is not agreement on policies, but a shared mindset that champions understanding, empathy, open-mindedness, and a willingness to engage those who are different from us.

Seven kinds of gatherings.
Interactive Forums
Jubilee-inspired formats — political spectrums, middle grounds, and other structured exercises that get participants moving, talking, and rethinking their assumptions in real time.
Socials
Low-stakes gatherings that build the trust and friendships that make hard conversations possible. From coffee chats to game nights, socials are where the coalition comes together off-hours.
Expert Panels
Scholars, practitioners, and journalists in conversation with each other on complex topics. Panels model rigorous, good-faith engagement across disciplinary and ideological lines.
Debates
We co-host debates with other Columbia student groups so members can hear nuanced perspectives from ideologically diverse peers who share expertise but disagree on the substance.
Speakers
BridgeColumbia invites speakers with unique experiences and viewpoints to campus — experts in current events, advocates for constructive discourse, and figures who challenge our assumptions.
Networking Events
Alumni mixers, faculty dinners, and cross-organization meet-ups that connect Bridge students with mentors, employers, and the broader civic-dialogue community.
